Becoming an officer

Are you interested in being a board member, but you’re not sure about the task you want to do? Do you have great article ideas for Asiasana? Perhaps you want to take part in advocacy but you don’t want to have too much responsibility? If you answered any of the questions positively, you’re in the right place!

What is an officer?

An officer (toimihenkilö / toimari) is a person appointed to a designated role or several roles by the executive board. Officers plan and organise activities for UDK in co-operation with the board. Officers do a lot of the same things that the members of the board do but have less responsibility. In accordance with their own interests, officers may focus on promoting the members’ interests through events, corporate relations, the student magazine Asiasana, and/or communications etc. Officers may also come up with something completely new that they think members of UDK would enjoy!

What positions are available? What is expected?

You also have a big influence on your position – you can, for example, suggest a new event concept or design new types of content for social media. Each officer receives their own udk.fi email address, so keeping your association work and studies separate is easier than ever. For many positions, we are looking for more than one person (e.g., communications, events), but for others only one.

When can I apply?

A general application for officers will be opened early in the year. As a rule, officers are appointed for a whole year at a time, but shorter periods are also possible. In the middle of the year, you can send an informal application directly to the team leader of your interests. The application will be discussed at the next Board meeting.

You can find the contact information for the members of the Board here.
